Recurrent Energy has 15 MW of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with renowned California healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente. The agreements include 15 sites scattered across northern and southern California. Recurrent Energy will build, own, and operate a total of 16 solar energy projects, selling 100% of the generated electricity to Kaiser. Construction is already complete on several projects, and all sites are expected to be online by 2012.
The suite of projects demonstrates the potential for distributed-scale projects to have a major impact when aggregated across multiple commercial or industrial sites. In the first year alone, Recurrent Energy's projects will offset an estimated 16,000 metric tons of CO2 emissionsroughly equivalent to the impact of taking 3,000 cars off the road, according to U.S. EPA national metrics.
The projects also underscore Recurrent Energy's expertise with system design, utilizing a variety of system configurations and technologies to deliver the 15 MW of power. The solar energy systems include rooftop solar, ground-mount solar, and elevated solar above existing parking garages and ground-level parking spaces.
