The San Francisco Sunset Reservoir Solar Project

Recurrent Energy owns and operates a 5 MW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the City's largest reservoir, located in the heart of San Francisco's Sunset district. The project consists of nearly 24,000 solar panels, making it one of the nation's largest municipal solar projects. The project more than tripled the municipal solar generation in San Francisco, furthering the City's leadership in clean energy implementation.

The solar plant is operated under a Power Purchase Agreement between the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and Recurrent Energy. The clean solar electricity is fed into the distribution grid and used by the General Hospital, San Francisco International Airport, Muni light rail, and public schools throughout the city.
